Description

Five spirals chasing each other around an open Celtic wheel. This is a pierced, openwork disc built from five identical spirals arranged in a ring, each coiling inward to a tight centre and linked by smooth sweeping arcs to its neighbours. A slender outer band frames the whole wheel, and the negative space between the spirals opens into a clean five-pointed void at the heart of the design. It is a rounded, ribbon-like relief — soft and rolling rather than sharp — with a distinctly Celtic, Newgrange-spiral character. The fivefold rotation gives it gentle movement, like a slow pinwheel. Lovely as an openwork wall hanging, a cabinet-door insert, a trivet, or a decorative panel for Celtic and folk-styled interiors. Print notes: because the disc is fully pierced, a CNC cut means through-cutting around every spiral — leave small holding tabs so the waste can't lift mid-pass, then sand them flush afterwards. As a 3D print it lies flat with no supports, and the open geometry keeps print times short and the edges clean. The rolled spiral profile sands down smoothly, taking stain or wax well on ply or hardwood. Mount it over a dark board or coloured felt and the tracery really stands out.
