Five-Spiral Star Rosette Medallion

Five spinning galaxies pinned around a single star. This medallion arranges five identical spirals in a ring, each one unwinding from a tight centre out into a broad, smooth curl. Where the five coils meet in the middle they frame a crisp five-pointed star, its points reaching out between the swirls. The effect is hypnotic and perfectly balanced — part Celtic Newgrange spiral, part compass rose — with the softly domed profile of a carved relief that catches light along every groove. It makes a handsome centrepiece for a wall roundel, a cabinet-door inset, a ceiling rose, a coaster or trivet, or a decorative box lid. Print / CNC notes: • The channels between the spirals are the real subject — run a round-nose or ball bit so the grooves stay smooth and even in depth. • In wood, mind grain direction on the thinnest spiral tips to avoid tear-out; a light finishing pass cleans them up. • For 3D printing, print flat with the relief facing up; a 0.2mm layer height keeps the swirl edges tidy. • A round hardwood blank, or a paint-and-antique finish, really emphasises the recessed star at the hub.
