Description

A slender fluted column belted at intervals with carved floral rosettes. This is a tall, narrow half- or full-round column shaft: fine vertical flutes run its whole length, interrupted every so often by raised collar bands, each ringed with a repeating rosette-and-leaf motif like a stone bracelet. The rhythm of plain fluting and ornate banding gives it a Gothic, ecclesiastical feel — the sort of clustered pier or turned pillar you'd find framing a cabinet, a fireplace surround, or a piece of church-style furniture. The detail is dense but crisp, and the repeating bands make it easy to cut to length. It suits furniture makers, restorers and prop builders who need a decorative upright, a pilaster, or a matched pair flanking a door or overmantel. Print notes: • Best cut on a 4th-axis/rotary for a true round; on a 3-axis router, split it into front and back halves and glue, or run it as a half-column pilaster against a flat back. • The rosette bands carry the deepest detail — finish those passes with a fine tapered ball-nose while the plain flutes can take a coarser stepover. • For resin/FDM, print vertically; the flutes self-support but add light supports under each banded collar. • Trim between bands to fit your height, cap the ends, then glaze the rosettes and wipe the flutes clean to separate ornament from shaft.
