Description

A column that's been sent climbing with grapevines from collar to collar. The form is a plain turned cylinder, but every visible face is wrapped in deep relief carving: broad five-lobed grape leaves, curling tendrils and fat, drooping clusters of grapes spiralling their way up the shaft. Top and bottom are capped with a twisted-rope torus and a flat disc, framing the vine-work like the astragals on a classical column. The pale wood tone of the render shows off the layered depth — leaves lifting clear of the ground, grapes rounded and almost detachable. This is architectural and furniture ornament with a vineyard heart: a newel post, a half-column, a table or bar leg, or a standalone decorative pillar for a wine room, cellar door or tasting bar. Cut notes • Made for rotary / 4th-axis CNC carving — index the blank and let the vine wrap continuously around the cylinder. • Rough with a stout ball-nose, then finish fine to bring out the veins in the leaves and the roundness of each grape. • If you only have 3-axis, the file can be split into staved sections and glued up around a core after carving. • As a resin or FDM print, orient it vertically and use a raft; a light sanding-and-oil pass reads convincingly as carved oak. Deep, generous and unashamedly ornamental — the sort of turned detail that anchors a whole scheme.
