Description

A carved classical leg that turns a plain cabinet into an heirloom. Rendered in warm wood tones, this is a fully three-dimensional furniture leg in the French/Empire tradition: a squared top block wrapped in a twisted rope moulding, corners finished with tight scroll volutes, and a long tapering shaft down the front face carved with a bold acanthus leaf that curls and splits into feathered lobes. It narrows to a small scrolled toe at the foot. Every side is worked, so it looks right from any angle on a freestanding piece. This is aimed at furniture makers, restorers and anyone building or reviving a sideboard, vanity, chest or bench that deserves period detail. A set of four instantly gives a flat carcass the presence of antique cabinetry. Carve / print notes • Designed for CNC carving in hardwood (oak, walnut, beech) on a 3- or 4-axis machine; the acanthus reads best with a fine tapered ball-nose for the finishing pass. • Equally printable in resin or FDM as a decorative or replica leg — orient it upright and support the undercuts beneath the volutes and leaf tips. • If you cut only the front face, the flat rear makes it easy to screw or dowel onto an apron. • Finish with stain and wax, or paint and gild the acanthus for a two-tone antique look. Model at true furniture height (commonly 150–250 mm) and mirror as needed for left and right corners.
