Acanthus Cabriole Furniture Leg

A carved cabriole leg with the presence of an antique. The model is a full three-dimensional furniture leg, tapering from a squared upper block down to a delicate scrolled toe. Its front face carries the detail that sells it: a crisp acanthus cartouche blooms at the knee, drops into a slim central flute that runs the length of the shaft, then resolves into a second leaf-and-bead flourish just above the foot. The silhouette curves gently, part cabriole and part tapered baluster, so it flatters console tables, cabinets, dressing tables and occasional chairs. This is a piece for makers who want turned-and-carved character without touching a lathe or a chisel. Cut a matched set of four and you have the bones of a period-style table; use a single one as a decorative bracket or newel accent and it earns its keep alone. Carve and print notes • Ideal for a 4-axis CNC rotary setup carved in oak, walnut or beech; on a 3-axis machine, split it front-to-back and glue up. • For FDM or resin, print upright along the length, support the acanthus overhangs, and orient the seam to the rear face. • Sand along the flute with the grain, then oil or stain; the recessed carving holds a dark glaze for extra depth. • Scale the height to your build.
