Grapevine Spiral Column

A vine caught mid-climb, spiralling up a round column. This turned column is wrapped by a continuous helical band carved with a grapevine: broad five-lobed vine leaves alternate with tight clusters of grapes, twisting around the shaft between raised spiral ribs from the plain collar at the base to the matching cap at the top. The carving is deep and naturalistic — you can read individual berries and the serrated edges of every leaf. It is a decorative structural accent for staircases, bar fronts, fireplace surrounds, four-poster beds or feature furniture legs — anywhere a plain post wants Old-World, winery-style richness. CNC / print notes: • Designed for 4-axis / rotary-axis carving around a cylindrical blank; hardwoods like oak, walnut or ash suit the deep grape relief. • On a 3-axis machine, cut it in halves and glue up, or print it instead. • For FDM, print upright with the axis vertical; tree/organic supports under the leaf overhangs peel off easily, and solid walls keep the spiral ribs crisp. • Resin captures the berry detail best at model scale. • Finish with a wipe of dark wax or gel stain, then buff the ribs back for contrast.
