Description

A towering Rococo spindle dripping with carved foliage. This is an ornate vertical baluster panel, an openwork column of scrollwork built to sit between the rails of a staircase or gallery balustrade. Two slim uprights frame the piece, and between them the carver has packed a riot of detail: an acanthus-crowned cartouche at the top cradling a little posy of blooms, a looping ribbon-and-heart scroll below it, a twisted rope that spirals down to a central rosette, and a broad foliate skirt at the base bursting with curled leaves and shell-like flourishes. Short round pegs top and bottom show exactly how it locks into a handrail and base rail. It is made for period joinery and statement furniture: a grand staircase, a room divider, a bed canopy post or an antique-style cabinet pilaster. The deep undercutting throws dramatic shadows, so it earns its keep as a focal ornament. Print / CNC notes • Tall and slender, so print or machine it standing vertically; on an FDM bed you may need to split it into upper and lower halves. • The openwork means genuine voids between the scrolls, so plan supports carefully and expect delicate bridges, best in resin for fidelity. • For CNC, a two-sided or double-pass job in a dense hardwood handles the deep relief without tear-out. • Prime and paint, or stain and dark-wax the recesses to read as a true carved antique.
