Description

Regal from crown to claw, this fully three-dimensional carving turns a support into a statement. A noble lion's head sits at the top, its thick mane falling in deep combed locks around a calm, heavy-browed face and broad muzzle. Below, the form narrows into a smooth tapering shaft — the leg proper — before flaring into a striking lower section: a dense band of hanging teardrop-and-petal forms, like a beaded skirt or bundled fur, that resolves into a powerful clawed lion's paw planted firmly at the base. Sculpted in the round, it's designed as a furniture leg or newel post — perfect for a hall table, bench, cabinet, bar, or the base of a staircase where a bit of heraldic drama is welcome. A set of four transforms a plain carcass into something that looks hand-carved by a master. Print / carve notes • Print upright to preserve the mane and paw detail; add supports under the muzzle, the mane overhangs and the claw tips. • Hollow the shaft with a couple of walls and infill to save filament on a tall part, but keep the paw solid for stability. • For CNC, this needs a 4-axis/rotary setup for a true round, or carve it as two mirrored halves and glue. • Stain to match existing timber, or gild the mane highlights; scale the height to your furniture piece.
