Description

A sculpted corbel dripping with baroque leafwork, carved fully in the round. This is a decorative corbel or bracket built from tumbling acanthus. A rolled volute scroll caps the top and rolls back into a shelf-like return, while beneath it a cascade of feathered leaves and C-scrolls swirls downward, gathering into a large teardrop-shaped volute at the foot. A small flat plinth finishes the base so it can sit or fix squarely against a surface. Unlike a flat onlay, this piece is deeply undercut and shaped on multiple faces, so it reads as sculpture from more than one angle; the warm tan render makes those deep shadows and rolling ridges easy to picture in timber. Use it as a support bracket under a shelf, mantel or countertop overhang, as an ornate furniture leg or newel detail, or as a standing decorative accent. Where it carries real load, size and species the stock accordingly; where it is purely decorative, you have a freer hand. CNC notes • The undercuts mean this is best cut on a 4-axis or rotary setup, or split into halves and glued. • Choose a stable hardwood such as beech, oak or lime for clean detail with minimal tear-out. • Rough out the bulk first, then finish with a fine ballnose to bring up the scroll and leaf surfaces. • Keep the plinth flat and true so it seats cleanly against wall or furniture when fixed.
