Description

A tapered leg with a single, elegant teardrop carved down its face. Shown head-on, this furniture leg narrows gently from a squared top toward the foot, and its front is dominated by one long teardrop-shaped panel: a raised almond of wood framed by a slender recessed groove that traces its outline. Two small carved volutes, like little rolled ears, sit at the shoulders where the leg meets its top block, softening the transition. The whole form is smooth and restrained, letting that one carved motif do all the talking. It suits a side table, hall table, sideboard or upholstered stool: pieces that want a hint of classical detail without heavy ornament. Machined as a set, the legs give furniture a calm, refined stance. CNC / print notes • This is a rounded 3D part. On a router, carve it fully in beech, ash or oak, roughing with an end mill and finishing the teardrop and grooves with a ball-nose. • To capture the rounded sides properly, use a rotary 4th axis or a two-sided flip setup. • For FDM or resin printing, stand it vertical for the cleanest front face and add light supports to the volutes and the underside of the top block. • Sand the broad faces smooth, then re-define the outline groove with a fine abrasive before oiling or painting so the teardrop stays sharp. Understated and versatile, a maker's leg for furniture that whispers rather than shouts.
