Description

A long, sinuous scroll that curves like a question mark carved in wood. This is a slender vertical ornament with a strong S-sway to it — a Baroque cabriole-style scroll. The top flares into a rolled crest, the middle carries a raised acanthus leaf laid along the spine like a feather, and the tail hooks back on itself to finish on a neat round boss at the foot. Because it's tall and narrow, it's built to run along an edge: the leg of a console, the stile of a cabinet, the side of an overmantel, or as a mirrored pair framing a headboard. The surface is smoothly modelled with just enough leaf detail to catch a shadow without fussiness. Handsomely paired left-and-right, two of these bracket a panel beautifully; on their own they make an elegant applied moulding. Print / cut notes: • Mirror the file for a matching opposite hand before you cut — most installs want a symmetrical pair. • The graceful curve means grain direction matters if you're cutting solid timber; a stable close-grained hardwood (or a resin print) avoids short-grain snapping at the thin neck. • Machine face-up as a relief; a 3mm ball-nose finishing pass keeps the leaf veins soft. • If FDM printing, lay it flat on the back face and add a brim — the thin tail is prone to lifting otherwise. • Prime with filler-primer to bury layer or tool lines before a gilt or paint finish.
