Description

Classical from crown to foot — a baluster that carries a whole order in one piece. At the top sits a square abacus block, beneath it a proper Ionic capital with a pair of tightly rolled scroll volutes flanking a central cushion. From there a gently fluted, waisted shaft tapers down to a ring of overlapping lotus / water-leaf petals, a turned torus, and finally a square plinth block for seating. It is a compact study in classical vocabulary, the kind of profile you would expect on a grand staircase or a stone balustrade shrunk to spindle scale. Use it as a stair baluster, a porch or balcony spindle, a stout table or console leg, or a repeated unit along a garden balustrade. Line several up and the volutes and petal rings give a satisfying rhythm. Print / cut notes: • The form is symmetrical around its vertical axis, so a lathe or CNC rotary axis roughs it fast, with a detail pass for the volutes and petals. • For resin or FDM, print upright; the scroll volutes and undercut petals want careful support placement. • Scale the height to your actual run and keep the square blocks square for clean joints. • Softwood carves quickly but a tighter hardwood holds the volute scrolls more cleanly.
