Description
A cabinet leg with formal manners. The turning opens with a square mounting block, its outward face carved with a neat four-petal rosette, then steps down through a beaded collar into a swelling capital wrapped in overlapping acanthus leaves. From there the shaft draws out into a long, gently tapering column dressed in crisp vertical flutes, finishing on a small turned foot. It is a refined neo-classical support - the kind of leg you cut or print as a matched set of four for a console table, sideboard, hall bench or occasional table. Because it is modelled fully in the round, treat it as a lathe-style or 4-axis job rather than a flat carving, or split and print it upright in resin for furniture-grade crispness. Print notes • On a 4-axis router, index in quarter turns so the fluting and acanthus wrap evenly around the whole shaft. • For FDM, stand it vertically along the shaft axis; the taper prints cleanly and only the block shoulders need light support. • Model or scale the square block to match your apron, and add a dowel or threaded insert at the foot for a solid fixing. • Keep the flutes shallow enough to sand without losing their edges, then finish with primer and paint or a matching wood stain.
