Description

A slender carved leg with acanthus flourishes at head and foot, furniture ornament with an Old-World spine. Rather than a flat tray, the image shows a tall, narrow vertical member: a rounded column with a plain, softly fluted central shaft framed by fine bead lines, capped at the top by a symmetrical acanthus-scroll ornament and finished at the bottom in a downward-pointing leafy foot. The carving stays shallow and quiet along the shaft, then deepens into the leaf clusters at each end where light catches the rolls. This is the sort of piece used as a furniture leg, a pilaster applied to a cabinet stile, or a vertical moulding flanking a mirror or fireplace. Cut and print notes • CNC: ideal as a 2.5D relief on a blank cut to length; work a close-grained hardwood so the leaf tips hold, and run a fine finishing pass over the scroll terminals. • 3D print: lay it flat, ornament face up, and print the length in one pass; the relief face needs no supports. • Need a mirrored pair to frame an opening? Print one and its mirror. • A brown glaze wiped into the recesses instantly ages it for a period restoration or a frame build.
