Description
A slender turned leg with a fluted spine and a nipped waist. This is a furniture leg or baluster spindle rather than a flat panel: square blocks cap each end — chamfered, with recessed panels on their faces for a clean mortise or a decorative pad — and between them a long fluted column tapers down through a series of turned rings to a swollen vase profile pierced by a single oval slot near the base. It is a symmetrical, lathe-turned classic, the sort of leg you would find under a hall table, a piano stool or a staircase newel. Aimed at makers building or restoring furniture, or adding turned legs to a bench, console or cabinet. Cut / print notes • CNC: ideal for a 4th-axis / rotary setup — turn the round shaft in the round, then index to carve the flutes and the pierced slot; or 3-axis carve two halves and glue them. • 3D print upright for the roundest shaft, or split it down the length and print two halves flat to skip supports on the flutes; the square blocks give flat glue faces. • The pierced oval and the fine turned collars are the fragile points — thicken them slightly if you print small. • Match the block size to your apron and rail joinery, and mirror four for a matching set.
