Description

A ceremonial mace, turned and bound in carved rope. This is a fully three-dimensional decorative piece: a heavy spherical head cradled in a coil of thick, twisted rope that wraps up and over the top, joined to a slender turned neck. Along the upper length of the shaft runs a ragged, briar-like texture — clustered thorns or torn husks — before it smooths out and tapers to a small finial tip. The contrast between the neat rope binding, the plain turned neck and the wild spiny midsection gives it real character. It works as a fantasy prop accent, a wizard's or herald's staff-head, a shelf curio, or a component in a larger assembled scepter. Set on a small stand it reads as a museum-style oddity. Print notes • Print it lying horizontal to keep the shaft straight, or vertical for the cleanest rope wrap — either way, support the overhanging rope loop and the spiny projections. • Resin captures the fine thorn texture far better than FDM; on FDM, expect to clean stringing around the rough midsection. • The thin shaft is the weak point — orient for grain strength and handle gently, or reinforce with an internal rod if scaling up. • Prime and dry-brush to separate the rope, wood and thorn textures.
