Twin Dolphins Rising-Sun Relief

Two dolphins ride a wave beneath a rising sun. This relief scene sets a full disc of sun low on the horizon while a pair of bottlenose dolphins arc across the foreground, snouts and dorsal fins lifted, bodies overlapping as they run side by side. Beneath them the sea is stylised into a fan of straight radiating slats — a louvred wave that fades into softer rolling swells at the base, giving the whole panel a sense of speed and spray. It makes a natural centrepiece for a coastal or nautical interior: a bathroom door panel, a beach-house wall plaque, a headboard inset or the lid of a keepsake box. The smooth rounded dolphins against the crisp linear water read well from right across a room. Cutting notes • Deep multi-level relief — rough with an end mill, then finish the dolphin curves with a fine ball-nose for polished skin. • The slatted wave is essentially fluted; a narrow V or core-box bit keeps those channels sharp and even. • Cut in a pale close-grained wood (maple, birch, lime) so the smooth mammals contrast the linear sea, or resin-print for a bright display piece. • Mount on a dark backer board to make the sun disc and fins stand out.
