Description

A heavy bunch of grapes spilling down a curl of vine. This vertical drop ornament reads unmistakably as the vineyard: a broad, deeply-lobed vine leaf caps the top, and beneath it a full cluster of plump, rounded grapes tumbles downward, overlapping berry over berry. A second leaf tucks in halfway, and the whole thing is tied together by slender vine stems and tendrils that coil into loose spirals at the very bottom. The relief is generous and rounded — each grape sits proud of its neighbour, so raking light gives it real depth. It's a natural fit for anywhere with a wine or harvest theme: a cellar door, a kitchen or bar, the corner mounts of a dresser, a wine-rack surround, or as a hanging pendant drop beneath a cabinet cornice. CNC notes • This wants deeper relief than a flat scroll — use a tapered ball-nose finishing bit to round the individual berries cleanly and reach between them. • Oak, walnut or beech carve well and take a rich finish; the piece suits vertical grain running with its long axis. • Expect a slower finishing pass because of the overlapping spheres — a small stepover pays off here. • Sand the leaf edges lightly, then use a dark wax or glaze wiped back to make the grapes pop against the recessed vine.
