Description

A perched squirrel, tail curled high, carved as a catch-all dish. The silhouette is unmistakable — nose to the left, front paws tucked up, back haunch settled, and that enormous plume of a tail sweeping up and over the body. The interior is recessed into a shallow tray and stippled with fine fur texture, so the finished piece holds keys, coins or jewellery while still reading as a woodland ornament. A raised outer rim traces the whole animal, giving a clean, chunky border that frames the textured centre. It suits an entryway table, a desk, or a nature-lover's shelf, and makes a warm little gift for anyone fond of garden wildlife. Cut & print notes: • On a CNC router this carves cleanly from a single face of hardwood — a fine ball-nose bit picks out the fur stippling; leave the tray floor a touch thicker for strength. • As a 3D print, lay it flat with the dish opening upward so the fur texture prints face-up; no supports needed. • Scale to roughly 120–160 mm long for a genuinely usable trinket tray. • Finish with oil or wax on wood, or a light sand and stain on printed PLA to bring out the grain of the fur detail.
