Aztec Geometric Sun-Disc Medallion

A dense geometric mandala that reads like a carved sun-disc. This circular relief medallion packs concentric rings of ornament into a single disc. The outer band is ringed with triangular saw-tooth motifs and small corner scrolls; inside it, a square is set on the diagonal, its borders filled with cross-hatched and dart patterning and studded rows of beading. Rosettes sit at the cardinal points, and the very centre holds a raised floral star inside a beaded ring. The overall feel is tribal-meets-Aztec — strong architectural geometry with crisp, repeating detail rather than flowing foliage. It makes a striking round wall medallion, a ceiling-rose alternative, a coaster or trivet blank, or an inset feature for a table top or cabinet door. Print notes: • Carves beautifully on a CNC router — a fine ball-nose for the beadwork and a V-bit for the sharp triangular borders; medium-hard timber holds the crisp edges best. • As a 3D print, lay it flat and print face-up with no supports; a 0.12mm layer keeps the small rosettes clean. • The strong low-relief geometry reads well at large diameters, so it scales up nicely for feature walls. • Finish with a dark wash wiped back off the high points, or a bronze rub for a coin-like look.
