Description

Climbing roses tumble across a criss-cross garden trellis, caught in crisp relief. This tall panel carries an arched, cathedral-style top and a deeply recessed field filled edge to edge with a diagonal lattice — the kind of open trellis you would train roses up against a sunlit wall. Bursting in from the upper-left and lower-left corners are full-blown roses, each petalled head ringed by serrated leaves that curl over the frame. The contrast between the flat, repeating diamonds of the weave and the soft, rounded blooms gives the piece real depth and movement. It suits a cottage-style interior beautifully: hang it as a standalone wall plaque, set it into a cupboard door, or use it as a headboard accent or bed-end panel. The upright proportions also make it a natural fit for a narrow hallway or the panel of a garden gate. Print / cut notes • Run the lattice as a shallow pocket and reserve your finest tapered bit for the rose petals, where the relief is deepest. • Carve upright (long axis vertical) so the diagonal weave stays symmetrical. • In timber, oak or ash flatter the trellis grain, while lime or basswood cut cleaner detail in the flowers. • Give the roses a light hand-sand and leave the lattice crisp for contrast, then finish with wax or a warm oil.
