Flaming Heart Ornamental Plaque

A heart wrapped in dancing flame. This relief centres a plump, rounded heart cradled inside a nest of stylised fire: sweeping tongues of flame curl up and outward from the sides in mirrored pairs, each one tapering into a flickering, hooked tip, while a slender ornamented spire rises straight up from the top like a crowning flame. Beneath the heart, a fanned pair of leaf-flame petals scoops downward to a point, and the layered, ribboned curls give the whole piece the graceful, sinuous rhythm of Thai lai-thai flame ornament. The carving is smooth and softly domed, so the flames read as flowing ripples rather than sharp spikes. It works beautifully as a romantic wall plaque, a Sacred-Heart-style devotional accent, a headboard or door centre, or an emblem panel for a special piece of furniture. Symmetry makes it easy to place as a focal medallion. Cut notes • Rough with a ball-nose and finish with a fine tapered ball-nose so the curling flame tips and the spire stay clean and undercut-free. • The recessed channels between the flames are the deepest cuts, so plan a stepped-down finishing pass to keep the walls smooth. • Choose a fine, even-grained hardwood for the slender flame tips; mirror-check the model to confirm both sides match after machining. • Gild or paint the heart against a darker flame surround for contrast, or leave natural and wax for a warm, flowing sheen.
