Stippled Fish Serving Dish

A whole fish, caught flat and hollowed into a serving dish. The outline is pure and simple, a blunt head, a sweeping dorsal line and a forked tail, while the belly is scooped into a shallow well ready to hold olives, dip or the day's catch. Across the body runs a stippled, halftone-style engraving that hints at scales, ribs and a gill plate in thousands of tiny dots, giving the plain surface a hand-etched, weathered-driftwood character. A single drilled eye finishes the head. This is a piece for a coastal kitchen or a seafood table: a tapas dish, a butter-and-bread board, or simply a wall plaque with a nautical wink. CNC notes: • Carve the body from a food-safe hardwood such as olive, walnut or beech if it will actually hold food, and finish only with food-grade oil. • The dotted shading is a fine engraving pass; run it with a small V-bit or engraving cutter once the pocket is cleared. • Keep the central well a shallow, smooth pocket so it wipes clean. • For a purely decorative version, any timber or even a 3D print works; sand the rim smooth so the whole fish reads as one flowing line.
