Description
A tidy home for every bit from 1 mm up to 13 mm. Despite the workshop code, this file is a machinist's storage tray, not a lattice panel: a solid rectangular block drilled with two neat rows of round pockets, each one engraved above with its size. The top row steps through 1, 2, 3, 3.18, 4, 5, 6 and 7 mm (that 3.18 being the classic 1/8-inch shank), and the lower row runs 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 mm, so drill bits, end mills or collets drop straight into the right hole and stay sorted by diameter. The labelled recesses mean no more squinting at faded shanks or chasing loose bits across the bench. It sits flat on a workbench, slides into a drawer, or can be screwed down beside a mill or CNC router for grab-and-go tool changes. Print notes • Print flat, holes facing up, no supports needed; the engraved numerals come out crispest with a 0.4 mm nozzle at 0.15 to 0.2 mm layers. • Push perimeters to four or more and infill to 30 to 40% so the pockets resist wear from steel shanks. • Check the hole diameters against your own bits before slicing, and add a touch of horizontal expansion if your printer runs tight. • PETG or ABS shrug off cutting oil better than PLA if the tray lives in a working shop.
