Description

Two fish caught mid-circle, chasing each other's tails. This piece reads as a Pisces roundel: a pair of plump, smiling fish curled nose-to-fin into a near-perfect disc, their bodies hollowed into two shallow scooped basins. The result is equal parts wall relief and functional twin-compartment dish, with fins that fan out past the rim as little pointed flourishes and a single drilled eye and soft cartoon grin on each fish. How you cut it decides its job: a catch-all by the door for keys and coins, a snack dish split for two nibbles, a soap-and-sponge tray by the sink, or simply a zodiac ornament for a Piscean's shelf. Print / CNC notes • On the router, rough the two basins with a 6mm end mill, then finish with a ball-nose for the smooth swept hollows; the outer fin points are delicate, so climb-cut the final pass. • For any food-serving role, seal with a food-safe oil or add a liner, as bare PLA and raw timber are not dishwasher friends. • Printing instead? It lies flat on the bed and needs no supports; a 0.2mm layer height keeps the eyes and lips crisp. • Scale it up for a fruit bowl or down to a ring dish; the geometry holds happily at either end.
