Interlocking Trinity Rings Roundel

Three rings locked in a quiet, endless loop. Carved into a round disc, this piece shows a trio of large circles overlapping around a smaller central ring, each swelling into a smooth, bowl-like hollow. The lobes flow into one another with soft rounded ridges rather than sharp lines, so light pools in the concave dishes and runs along the raised borders — a calm, meditative geometry that reads as unity, trinity or infinity depending on who is looking. It suits a router table beautifully as a decorative medallion: a coffee-table inlay, a cabinet-door centre, a headboard motif or a standalone wall roundel. The clean interlocking form also scales down nicely as a coaster or trivet. Cut notes: • On the CNC, rough with a large ballnose then finish with a fine ballnose to keep those scooped hollows glassy-smooth — flats or step ridges will show badly in a piece this soft-edged. • Sand progressively; the rounded valleys love a hand-sanded, oiled finish that deepens the grain. • For 3D printing, lay it flat on the disc back so the recesses face up and print support-free. • Works in hardwood, MDF for paint, or a two-tone laminate to pop the interlocking rings.
