Description

A little ziggurat of sockets that finally gives every drill bit a home. This is a domed, stepped organiser: concentric tiers climb toward a central open funnel, and each ring is bored with a graduated set of sockets, every one carrying an embossed size — 1, 1.8, 1.9, 2, 2.5 and 3 near the peak, spiralling out to 5.5, 5.8, 6.5, 7, 12, 12.5 and 13 around the wide base. Bits stand upright, sorted smallest to largest, so you simply read the number and pull the size you want. The skirt around the bottom is cut with tall rectangular windows that lighten the print and let you sweep out drilling dust. It is a workshop and hobby-bench piece built for twist drills, but the tiered layout serves pin vices, engraving burrs and small screwdriver bits just as well. Print notes: • Print upright, dome-up, exactly as pictured — the sockets are vertical blind holes that need no supports. • Test-fit a couple of sockets against your actual bit shanks first; nudge the model a percent or two if your slicer runs tight, because drill shanks are unforgiving of a snug bore. • The embossed numbers stay legible down to roughly 0.2 mm layers; a dark filament with a light ironing pass on the top makes them easy to read. • If you machine this from solid billet, drill the sockets as a secondary op from a labelled drawing rather than trying to carve each bore in 3D.
