Description

A few bars of music frozen in gold. A graceful treble clef opens this piece, followed by a run of notes strung across a gently curving five-line staff: two pairs of beamed eighth notes and a single stemmed note trailing off to the right, as if the melody is drifting away. The whole arrangement sweeps in a shallow arc, which gives an otherwise flat subject a real sense of movement and rhythm. It is made for anyone who lives around music — hang it in a practice room, a home studio or a teaching space, or give it to a musician, choir member or band-mad teenager. It works equally well as a standalone wall relief or as an inlay dropped into a larger sign or plaque. Print notes • Cut as a raised relief so the clef, note heads and staff lines stand proud of the background. • The thin staff lines and note stems are the fragile parts — use a fine V or tapered bit and take a light finishing pass so nothing chips out. • Machines cleanly in hardwood or MDF; a metallic gold paint or gilding wax over a dark base will echo the brassy look shown here. • If wall-mounting, model or drill discreet fixings on the back rather than piercing the delicate staff.
