Description

A clean sunken panel, waiting for whatever you want to carve into it. This is deliberately minimal: a shallow rectangular recess with softly rounded corners and gently sloping inner walls, leaving a raised, even border all the way around. There's no ornament, no lettering and no figure, just a crisp pocketed frame. Think of it as a blank canvas rather than a finished motif, machined and ready to become the base layer of a sign, plaque or inlay. That blankness is the point. Drop lettering, a house number, a logo or a family name into the sunken field as a second operation; use it as a backer plate behind a raised design; recess it into a drawer front as decorative moulding; or leave it as a shallow tray or catch-all pocket. Because it's pure geometry, it scales cleanly to whatever proportion you need. CNC / print notes • The pocket is a simple flat-bottom clearing job: rough with a larger end mill, then a finishing pass along the border and radiused corners. • Take it in stepped depth passes in hardwood to avoid tear-out, and sand the raised frame before finishing. • For 3D printing, the flat recess needs no supports; a couple of extra top layers keep the pocket floor smooth. • Plan your second-operation text or inlay before cutting so the depths and margins line up.
