Blank Volute-Scroll Name Cartouche

A blank banner scroll that curls away into two great spirals. This is a symmetrical cartouche: a smooth, gently dished central plaque dips across the middle, then the material rolls outward and tucks up into a pair of large volute scrolls at each end — very much in the spirit of an Ionic column's spiral. The centre is deliberately left flat and undecorated, which makes it a ready-to-personalise surface, while the scroll ends give it that carved, architectural finish. That blank panel is the whole point: engrave a house name or number, a family surname, a wedding date, a workshop or bar sign, an award or a memorial line. It works mounted over a door, on a gate post, above a fireplace, or as the header on a larger sign board. CNC notes • Keep the central plaque flat and clean so you can V-carve or laser text into it in a second operation. • Round the volute scrolls with a ball-nose finishing pass — the tighter the spiral, the smaller the stepover you'll want. • Paintable MDF or poplar suits a painted sign; oak or iroko if it's going outdoors and staying natural (seal it well). • Leave flat pads or a recessed keyhole on the back for clean wall or post mounting. • Consider painting the scrolls and gilding or contrast-painting the engraved text so the lettering reads from a distance.
