Description
The slow, satisfying drizzle-stick that keeps honey off the tablecloth. A classic dipper: a slender round handle finished with a neat ball knob at one end, and a fat, deeply ridged bulb at the other whose stacked grooves cling to honey and release it in a controlled thread as you twirl. The ringed head is the whole trick. Those channels trap far more than a spoon can, and a quick spin over the pot stops the drip. It is a small, tactile piece of kitchenware that feels good in the hand and looks the part resting in a honey pot, on a breakfast board or beside a teapot. Making notes • Turns beautifully on a lathe from a close-grained hardwood such as beech, maple or cherry; the ridges cut cleanly with a parting tool and skew. • If 3D printing instead, stand it vertically and use fine layers so the grooves stay crisp, then seal thoroughly. • For genuine food contact, finish turned wood with a food-safe oil or beeswax; printed versions are best kept decorative or given a certified food-safe coating. • Sand the ball and shaft to a silky polish so it wipes clean between uses. • Sized for a standard jar mouth; lengthen the shaft to reach the bottom of taller honey pots.
