Description

A single tile that behaves like an endless woven mat. The design repeats one three-armed, softly splayed link that loops over and under its neighbours, braiding row after row into a continuous basket-weave with no visible seam. Each unit reads like a rounded trefoil pinched at the waist; carved in raised relief, the strands catch light along their crowns and drop into shadow where they cross, so a flat panel suddenly reads with real depth and motion. This is a decorative surface rather than a picture, which makes it endlessly adaptable. Set it as a cabinet-door insert, a headboard feature strip, a repeating wainscot band, or a backlit screen where light rakes through the plaited grid. Because the pattern has no true start or finish, you can tile it edge to edge and it flows seamlessly across a whole wall. Print / cut notes: • Best in a close-grained hardwood (maple, beech, walnut) so the crossing strands stay crisp; MDF is fine for painted work. • Rough with a flat end mill, then finish with a tapered ball-nose to round the woven strands and reach the deep valleys. • Keep the stepover small around the over/under crossings so the transitions stay smooth. • A light sand along the strand crowns before oil or wax makes the weave pop against the shadowed troughs.
