Moorish Quatrefoil Lattice Panel

Geometry that feels equal parts cathedral window and Moorish garden screen. This square relief panel is built from a symmetrical lattice of interlocking quatrefoils and pointed almond shapes, their edges curling into little fleur-de-lys hooks and scrolls. At the dead centre sits a raised eight-lobed rosette framing a small octagon, with the whole pattern radiating outward in perfect four-fold mirror symmetry so it reads cleanly from any rotation. The relief is layered rather than pierced — raised tracery floating over a recessed backing field — which throws lovely soft shadows under raking light. It is designed for the CNC crowd: carve it into a hardwood cabinet door insert, a decorative wall tile, a headboard accent, a fret-style room divider, or a repeatable border when tiled edge to edge. Cut notes • Rough out the pockets with a flat end mill, then finish the flowing edges with a small ball-nose or a V-bit for crisp shoulders. • MDF, oak, walnut or acrylic all suit it; a wax or dark stain in the recesses makes the raised tracery pop. • Watch the thin connecting bridges between motifs — keep relief depth moderate so slender links don't chip out. • Tiles seamlessly on all four sides for larger panels; mirror alternate tiles for a woven feel.
