Overlapping Dragon-Scale Wall Panel

Row upon row of overlapping scales, like the flank of a sleeping dragon. This is a seamless cladding panel built from teardrop-shaped scales, each one convex and tapering to a soft point, layered so the tip of one tucks beneath the row above. The staggered, fish-scale (or roof-shingle) rhythm catches raking light beautifully, throwing soft curved shadows across the surface. It's designed as a repeatable feature panel — think an accent wall, a cabinet-door insert, a headboard motif, a bar front or a backdrop for a fantasy or nautical-themed room. Because the pattern tiles, several panels butt together to cover a larger area. Print & CNC notes: • As a relief it machines cleanly on a 3-axis router; a ballnose finishing pass follows the scale curves best and leaves the rounded lobes smooth. • Watch the deep valleys where scales overlap — a smaller finishing bit or a tighter stepover keeps those pockets clean. • If you tile several copies, plan your zero and stock edges carefully so the scale rows line up across the seam. • In filament it makes an excellent textured wall tile; print flat with scales pointing up, no supports needed, then a satin or metallic paint (bronze, gunmetal, verdigris) really sells the dragon-hide effect.
