Celtic Trinity Knot Wall Panel

Endless interlace with no beginning and no end: a dense Celtic knotwork panel woven from ribbon-like strands. This carved square panel is packed with classic Insular knotwork, layering interlocking triquetra (trinity) knots, looping heart-shaped weaves and pointed vesica motifs that thread over and under one another in continuous raised bands against a deeply recessed ground. The whole composition is mirror-symmetric, so the eye keeps chasing the strands around the design without ever finding a loose end. It works as a standalone plaque or, because the pattern reads as a tile, as a repeating module for something much bigger. CNC notes • Cut it as a relief: clear the recessed background with a flat end mill, then define the over-and-under ribbon crossings with a ball-nose finishing pass. • Oak or ash suit the medieval feel, and a strong long grain shows off the flowing strands beautifully. • Machine several copies and butt them edge to edge for a larger feature wall, headboard or door surround. • Lightly ease the sharp interlace edges before oiling so the ribbon crossings do not splinter in use.
