Acanthus Lily Corner Onlay

A corner flourish where acanthus scrolls curl around a single open bloom. Set within a square tile, the design sweeps a quarter-circle groove through the middle and lets carved acanthus foliage spill across it — long ribbed leaves that fold and twist, tipped with tight rolled volutes at each corner. At the heart sits a wide lily-like flower cradling a small cluster of round berries, with more buds unfurling on trailing stems below. It is built to sit in the corner of something larger: the top of a cabinet door, a mirror frame, a headboard or a ceiling panel, either alone or mirrored across all four corners to frame a field. The relief is deep and rounded, so raking light throws real shadow between the leaves. Cutting notes • Machine as a raised onlay — cut the relief, profile the square border and glue it on, or carve directly into the workpiece. • A tapered ball-nose finishing bit follows the rolled leaf tips and undercut curls cleanly. • Works in oak, walnut, lime or dense PU tooling board; resin-print it small for jewellery-box scale. • Sand lightly along the grain of the leaves and pick out the berries with gilt wax for a heritage look.
