Baroque Acanthus Blossom Relief Panel

A square of baroque garden captured in relief. This CNC carving bursts with tumbling acanthus foliage — long, ribbon-like leaves that curl and roll across the tile, wrapping around a pair of open blossoms whose centres are studded with tight berry clusters. The sculpting is genuinely deep, with undercut scrolls and layered petals that throw real shadow, so the finished piece reads like hand-chiselled hardwood rather than a shallow etch. It suits a cabinet-door insert, the crest of a headboard, a jewellery-box lid or a framed plaque above a doorway. Traditional woodcarvers will recognise the flowing rococo scrollwork as a workshop staple that dresses up plain furniture instantly. Print / cut notes • Single-sided relief — orient the flat back down on the bed (or flat against your CNC spoilboard) and carve/print detail face up. • On a router, rough with a 6mm ball nose then finish with a 1.5–2mm tapered ball for the tight leaf veins and undercut curls. • For resin or FDM, lay it flat; no supports on the reverse, and a 0.12mm layer height keeps the petal edges crisp. • Finish in oak, walnut or a warm gilt wax to sink pigment into the recesses and pop the leaf ridges. Scale it up for a mantel centrepiece or down to a drawer-front accent — the composition holds its detail at either size.
