Description

A blooming rosette that turns a flat panel into a focal point. This is a circular appliqué medallion built in layers of classical relief: a ring of long, curling acanthus leaves radiates out in a six-pointed star, their tips flicking up at the edges, while a beaded ring circles a raised inner disc. At the very centre sits a fluted flower boss — a little pinwheel of petals around a cross-hatched button. The carving is deep and confident, with strong shadows between the leaf lobes that make it pop under raking light. It is a decorator's staple: glue it to a cabinet door, a headboard, a ceiling rose, a fireplace surround or a plain furniture panel to add instant heritage character. Woodworkers, restorers and prop makers all reach for pieces like this. Print / CNC notes • On a CNC this is a two-stage job — a roughing pass then a fine ball-nose finish to bring out the leaf veins and the beaded ring cleanly. • For 3D printing, lay it flat on the bed decoration-up; no supports needed, and the deep relief hides layer lines well. • Print or cut it slightly oversize and sand the outer leaf tips to feather the medallion into your surface. • Beech, lime or a paint-grade resin all take it nicely; a gilt wax or a dark glaze worked into the recesses really lifts the acanthus detail.
