Quatrefoil Lobed Catch-All Dish

A scooped little basin with four pointed ears, ready for keys, coins or rings by the door. The render shows a shallow dish with a rounded quatrefoil silhouette: a softly domed floor that dips toward the centre, walled by a smooth raised rim, with four teardrop lobes pinching out at each cardinal point. Those pointed corners read almost like petals or the tips of a compass rose, giving an otherwise plain catch-all a bit of quiet Art Nouveau character. There is no surface pattern to fight with wood grain, so this is a form-first piece that lets a nicely figured hardwood do the talking. It suits a hallway console, a bedside table or a desk corner, keeping the odds and ends that usually migrate into pockets in one tidy pool. Cut a pair and you have a matched valet set; scale it up and it becomes a fruit or potpourri bowl. Print notes: • Machine straight into the top face of a board thicker than the deepest part of the basin; a 6mm ballnose roughs the pocket, a 2mm ball tapers the walls and lobe tips. • Leave onion-skin tabs at the four lobes so the piece does not shift on the final pass, then part it free by hand. • Sand the concave floor with a foam pad to keep the sweep even, and finish with a food-safe oil or hardwax if it will hold anything you eat from. • For 3D printing instead, orient it open-face up and print with a wide brim; no supports are needed inside the bowl.
