Ornate Foliate Rosette Medallion

A perfectly round rosette that packs an entire garden of ornament into one disc. The relief is a symmetrical medallion built from interlocking foliate scrolls, teardrop cartouches and tiny basket-weave knots, all radiating from a small central flower. Four leaf-shaped panels ring the middle, each stamped with a lattice-diamond, while curling vines and stylised petals fill every gap right out to the raised bevelled rim. The rendered bronze finish shows off just how much depth the carving carries: high crisp scrolls dropping into shadowed valleys. This is a decorative CNC relief meant to be cut into a solid panel and mounted as a feature — a cabinet-door centre, a headboard medallion, a ceiling rose or a framed hardwood wall piece. Its full radial symmetry means it reads correctly from any angle, so it also works laid flat as an inset on a table or box lid. Print notes: • Machine in a tight-grained hardwood (maple, cherry, walnut) so the fine knotwork holds a clean edge without chipping. • Rough with a larger bit, then finish the scroll detail and the lattice diamonds with a 1/8" or smaller tapered ball-nose for the deep pockets. • Keep the disc flat and well-fixtured; the outer rim is your reference plane, so surface the blank first. • Sand lightly by hand, then a dark wax or oil pulled back off the high points will make the raised scrollwork pop against the recessed background. Equally printable in resin as a plaque if you want the ornament without a router.
