Six-Point Acanthus Flower Rosette

A six-pointed flower bursting out of the wood. This rosette radiates six broad, deeply lobed acanthus-leaf petals from a smooth domed centre button, with slender secondary leaflets tucked between them to fill out the star. The carving is high-relief and generously undulating; petals lift and curl at their edges so raking light throws crisp shadows across the surface. Rosettes like this are the workhorse of period joinery. Drop them onto door corners, cabinet stiles, bed frames, mantels and stair newel posts, or use one as a standalone medallion centred on a plain panel. It reads equally well in traditional and eclectic interiors. CNC notes • A classic 2.5D rosette: clear the background, then let a ball-nose finishing pass give the petals their rounded, flowing surface. • The model is symmetrical about its centre, so grain direction matters little; centre it on your stock and mind the depth at the tallest petal tips. • The tight valleys between leaflets benefit from a small finishing bit and a fine stepover to avoid fuzz. • Beautiful in oak, beech, cherry or lime; sand the raised petals, then oil, wax or gild. Sized down, it makes elegant matching corner blocks for a set.
