Description

A quartet of acanthus petals scrolls outward from a single domed bead. Here is a classic square rosette — the kind of ornament that turns a plain cabinet door, newel post or mirror frame into something that looks hand-carved. A smooth half-round bead sits dead centre, and from behind it four fleshy acanthus leaves unfurl toward the corners, each finishing in a tightly rolled scroll with a drilled eye at its heart. Slimmer leaf tips fill the gaps and run out to the square edge, so the piece tiles neatly or sits on its own as a corner block. The carving is deep and softly rounded, all curves and no hard lines, in the Baroque furniture tradition. Print / cut notes: • Machine face-up; the design is fully symmetrical, so you can mirror or array it along a rail without seams. • Use a ball-nose bit for the finishing pass to keep the petal surfaces glassy — flats will read as tool marks under a raking light. • The rolled scroll tips have gentle undercuts; a small tapered ball-nose or a follow-up V-bit will clean the eyes. • Straight-grained lime, tulipwood or beech carve cleanly; as a 3D print it makes a light onlay you can glue and paint to match trim.
