Six-Petal Faceted Flower Rosette

Clean, bold and geometric, this rosette is a six-petal flower carved with sharp central spines running down each broad, hexagon-edged petal. A polished round button sits at the very centre, and the faceted petals radiate out with a crisp folded-paper quality — less fussy than a full acanthus rosette, more graphic and architectural. It reads beautifully from across a room, which makes it a natural fit for stair newel caps, plinth blocks, headboards and cabinet centre points. Because the forms are broad and faceted rather than lacy, it machines quickly and finishes with very little hand work — ideal if you want a repeatable ornament for a batch of furniture pieces or panelling. Carving notes: • A ball-nose finishing pass follows the petal ridges naturally; a 3 mm bit gives a good balance of speed and detail. • Keep the centre button as your highest point and let the petals fall away toward the perimeter for a domed, cushiony look. • Hardwood, MDF or dense foam all cut well; MDF takes primer and paint superbly for a modern painted finish. • Duplicate at a smaller scale for rail-and-stile intersections, or enlarge for a single statement medallion. After cutting, ease the outer petal edges with fine paper so the facets stay sharp but not brittle, then seal before finishing.
