Description

A four-petal bloom caught mid-open, carved deep into a crisp square field. This is a formal decorative rosette panel — a symmetrical flower head set within a recessed square border. From a polished round boss at the centre, four broad acanthus-style leaves sweep out toward the corners, framed above and below by paired petals and slender teardrop accents. The motif is four-fold symmetric, so it reads the same whichever way you turn it, and the raised leaves catch light and shadow beautifully once finished. It is the kind of ornament that dresses up joinery: centre it on a cabinet door, drop it into the corner blocks of a mirror frame, cap a newel post, or inset it as a rosette on a headboard, mantel or blanket-chest lid. At small scale it makes a tidy drawer medallion; enlarged, a standalone wall tile. Print / cut notes • Run flat, face up — the design is a single-sided relief with no undercuts. • On a CNC router, rough with an end mill then finish the rounded leaves and boss with a tapered ballnose for smooth transitions. • Ideal in a close-grained hardwood such as maple, cherry or walnut, or MDF for a painted finish. • 3D printing works too: a 0.4mm nozzle handles it, while resin gives razor edges if you plan to gild it.
