Description

A square rosette built on four-fold symmetry, anchored by a domed central button. From a raised hemispherical boss at the centre, four broad acanthus leaves unfurl toward the corners, each splitting into plump C-scroll curls that echo around all four sides. Slim, pointed leaf blades reach diagonally into the corners and give the roughly square rosette its crisp diamond framing. The relief is generous and rounded, so it catches light evenly from any direction — which matters, because a piece like this is often viewed from below or at an angle. Rosettes like this are the decorative full-stop of trim carpentry: drop them onto cabinet-door corners, plinth blocks, the junctions of a coffered ceiling, bed frames or furniture panels — anywhere two mouldings meet and want a decorative cap. Print / CNC notes • The four-fold symmetry keeps toolpaths efficient: rough with a larger bit, then detail the scroll eyes and central dome with a tapered ball-nose. • Machine in a stable hardwood or seal-primed MDF, and keep the central boss well supported so it does not burn on the finishing pass. • Printing on filament? Print flat, dome up, no supports; 0.12 mm layers keep the curled lobes smooth. • Sand the dome lightly, then wax, gild or paint to match your existing woodwork.
