Description

A square rosette that anchors a corner or crowns a cabinet. This carved tile centres on a full-blown flower: rounded overlapping petals fanning out from a domed, cross-hatched seed head that reads like a stylised sunflower or pinecone. Four acanthus leaves sweep diagonally into the corners, each curling around a little berry or bud, and the whole panel sits in a softly scalloped square border. It is symmetrical on both axes, so it looks correct whichever way you mount it. Rosette tiles like this are the classic joinery detail for door corner blocks, plinth centres, cabinet panels, newel posts and picture-frame corners: a single carving that instantly makes flat-pack furniture look bespoke. Print / CNC notes • For CNC, rough with an end mill, then finish with a tapered ball-nose to round the petals and reach into the deep valleys around the central boss; a small V-bit cleans the cross-hatch on the seed head. • Keep the tile flat and machine face-up; the relief is raised with no undercuts, so it cuts in one setup with no supports. • On a 3D printer, lay it flat on the bed and print face-up at 0.12mm for crisp petal edges; the cross-hatched centre benefits from a slow top-layer speed. • Great in oak or lime for carving; on prints, a wipe of dark glaze into the recesses followed by a light sand on the high points brings out every petal.
