Description

A rose window's worth of scrollwork in one disc. This CNC medallion is a circular openwork rosette built from three sweeping S-scrolls that spiral around the centre in a triskele-style rotation, each curl blossoming into trefoil and teardrop cut-outs framed by a smooth raised ring. The result is pierced gothic tracery, flowing, three-fold and symmetrical, with rounded, softly modelled ridges that catch light like carved stone. Open voids run right through the pattern, so it can be mounted over a contrasting backer or left as a true fretwork panel. It suits a decorative wall roundel, a cabinet or door inlay, a ceiling boss, a headboard centrepiece or a signboard medallion for anyone drawn to church-window and Celtic-revival motifs. Cutting notes • Pocket-clear the voids first with a straight bit, then finish the raised scrolls with a ball-nose for the rounded relief. • Fine inner corners need a small tool; a 2mm ball helps the trefoil cusps read cleanly. • Hardwood or MDF both work; back-light it or mount on dark felt to make the piercing pop. • It also prints well as resin or FDM wall art, laid flat, pattern-up, with supports only under the rim. • Seal and wax wood versions to bring out the flowing grain across the curls.
