Description

A square of pure carved symmetry — a blooming rosette wrapped in scrolling acanthus. This one lives up to its CNC billing. At the centre sits a fat, many-petalled flower head, almost dahlia-like, with a beaded button core. From it, four mirrored quadrants of curling acanthus leaves and volute scrolls sweep out to fill every corner, each tendril echoing the next so the tile reads perfectly balanced whichever way you turn it. It's the kind of relief that dresses up furniture and joinery: a cabinet-door centre, a bed-head appliqué, a fireplace overmantel panel, or simply a framed decorative plaque for a hallway. The deep undercuts and layered scrollwork throw real shadow, so it looks carved rather than printed even under flat light. Print / cut notes: • On a CNC this wants a fine ball-nose finishing pass to round the leaf rolls; a 3D relief toolpath at tight stepover pays off in the spirals. • Printing instead? Orient the relief face-up and flat — no supports needed — and use a 0.4mm or finer nozzle at low layer height to hold the petal edges. • A dark wash followed by a dry-brushed highlight reads beautifully on the raised scroll tips. • Oak or walnut suit the traditional look; a paint-and-gild finish turns it into a real statement piece.
