Description

A plump eight-petal rosette pressed into a shallow round dish. This medallion sets a single stylised flower at its centre: eight softly rounded, teardrop petals radiate from a raised domed button, each petal swelling with a smooth, pillowy relief. The bloom sits in a gently dished recess ringed by a plain raised rim, so the flower feels cupped and protected — a tidy, classical roundel. It is a versatile decorative appliqué: a corner or centre block for cabinet doors, a rosette for stair newel posts and plinth blocks, a ceiling-rose in miniature, or a repeated accent along furniture and panelling. The clean, chunky petals stay legible even scaled down small. Cut notes • On a CNC router this is a friendly carve — a ball-nose bit rounds the petals and centre dome in a single finishing pass, while the rim needs only a shallow profile cut. • Keep the petal separations from cutting too deep to a point, or the ridges between petals turn fragile; a rounded valley holds up better in both wood and print. • For 3D printing, lay it flat and print face-up on the bed — the domed petals need no supports and layer lines follow the curves cleanly. • Sand the petal crowns, then a wash into the petal grooves and around the centre button gives instant carved-rosette depth; gilt cream on the rim finishes it.
